From 12mm to 28mm: AnchorGuardian Now Covers a Wider Chain Range

The Fleet Grows. The Standard Holds.

AnchorGuardian now supports the complete practical range of anchor chain diameters used across the yacht and superyacht fleet — from 12mm through to 28mm. For captains and technical managers operating vessels anywhere within that range, the same real-time anchor monitoring intelligence that has defined AnchorGuardian’s D-Series is now accessible without compromise.

A Range That Reflects the Real Fleet

Anchor chain diameter is one of the most fundamental variables in how a vessel anchors. It determines the weight of the rode, the load characteristics under strain, and how the monitoring system must interpret movement and tension. A system calibrated to the wrong chain class is not giving you accurate data — and in anchoring, inaccurate data is no data at all.

The D-Series portfolio now spans the following supported chain diameters: 12mm, 13mm, 14mm, 16mm, 18mm, 19mm, 20mm, 22mm, 24mm, 26mm, and 28mm. Each configuration is treated as its own calibrated profile. There is no approximation across chain classes.

Getting the Measurement Right

Anchor chain is specified by its wire diameter, which is the measurement of the steel rod from which each individual link is formed. This is the dimension referred to as “d” in the technical diagram below, and it is the measurement marked by the arrows in the photograph.

If in doubt, the chain specification will typically be stamped on the windlass or documented in the vessel’s technical records. The manufacturer’s marking on the chain itself is another reliable source.

The Same Standard, Across the Range

Extending support from 12mm through 28mm does not alter the architecture or the monitoring philosophy of the D-Series. Every supported configuration delivers the same real-time anchor position data, drag detection, and decision-support intelligence. The extension simply means that more vessels — from mid-sized yachts running 12mm chain to large superyachts on 28mm — can now access that standard without compromise. Anchor chain monitoring is only meaningful when it is configuration-specific. A system that applies a generalised approach across fundamentally different chain classes cannot give you an accurate picture of what is happening at the seabed. The D-Series was built on that principle, and the extension to the full 12mm–28mm range continues it.

Broader Fleet Coverage. No Compromise on Precision.

The yacht fleet is diverse in size, displacement, and operational profile. Anchor chain diameters across that fleet reflect that diversity. With D-Series support now spanning 12mm through 28mm, AnchorGuardian is positioned to serve a significantly wider range of vessels — from the Mediterranean in summer to more remote cruising grounds year-round — while maintaining the engineering standard the system is built on.
